Biography
Patti K is a 2nd generation Black, queer Ugandan-Candadian woman living and loving in Kjipuktuk on the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq people. She began her DJ career in May 2026 after over a decade of shutting down dance floors in the city and hasn't looked back since. Coming from a classically trained violinist and vocalist background she's able to use her innate musicality to create versatile soundscapes for whatever mood is required. A lover of all genres of music, she mainly spins r&b, rap, hip hop and afrobeats with some guaranteed surprises here and there.
She preferentially listens to everything old school and tries to incorporate Black musical ancestors and pioneers into her sets. As the founder of FREEQ Atlantique, Kjipuktuk's own racialized queer DJ collective, Patti K is deeply committed to creating more spaces and opportunities for diverse DJs to perform. Collaboration over competition always. Above all Patti K believes in the transformative power of music and wants to dance with you!
